8/20/2010 Slab Leaks in Clay Soil Increasing with August Triple-Digit Temperatures
Slab leaks and foundation failures are on the rise because of unseasonably hot, dry North Texas summer. As clay soil beneath homes here dries out it shifts, often with serious consequences to foundations and buried water and gas lines.

Air Filtration Systems to Protect Your Family

Try this test: open the drapes when the sun is shining brightly. Most likely you will see specks of “dust” shining everywhere. But you don’t have to settle for that.

The best High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) air filters trap only about 90 percent of particulates suspended in the air. Standard paper filters on most home air conditioning and heating systems leave more in the air than they remove.

At Last It’s Safe to Breathe!

Now there is a whole-house air filtration system that gets the air so clean you may not even have to use a dust cloth!

The AccuCleanTM air filtration system from American Standard will remove up to 99.98% of allergens and other suspended matter from the air in your home. It can be installed on most home air conditioning and heating systems.

AccuClean is 100 times more effective than standard one-inch throw-away air filters and ionic-type room appliances, and it’s eight times better than HEPA filters, without restraining air flow.

Validated By Experts

AccuClean’s air filtration performance has been verified by experts including Dr. John Spengler, a faculty member of the Harvard School of Public Health, and co-founder of consulting firm Environmental Health and Engineering, Inc.

Just What Is in the Air in Your Home?

According to the Environmental Protection Agency indoor air can be up to five times less healthy than outside air, and most of us are indoors more than outside.
  • As many as 72 trillion allergens get into your home every day.
  • The average home creates more than 40 pounds of dust each year.
  • Each ounce of dust contains about 40,000 dust mites, a common household allergen.
  • Children are especially endangered by airborne allergens because they inhale 50% more air per pound of body weight than adults.
  • Tobacco smoke contains more than 4,000 chemical compounds, many of which are strong irritants.
  • About 45% of homes in the United States have one or more people with asthma or allergies.
  • Ineffective air filtration equipment makes contamination worse by circulating dirty air for you to breathe over and over.

How AccuClean Works

Paper and HEPA air filters don’t work well because they physically trap airborne matter. AccuClean puts an electronic charge in contaminants, which attracts them to its oppositely charged collection cells.

Because of that, AccuClean traps particles down to 0.3 microns in size. That’s 2000 times smaller than the period at the end of this sentence. You’d need a microscope to see most of the big particles AccuClean collects.

No Filters to Replace!

AccuClean has a reusable pre-filter and collection cells. You only need to rinse or vacuum the pre-filter once every 3 months, and the collection cells every 6-to-9 months.

If you have our Universal Protection Plan service agreement Berkey’s factory trained technicians will inspect your AccuClean every year. We highly recommend this agreement, which will save you hundreds of dollars each year in tune up costs alone.
